PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Senior Todd Baron (Albertson, N.Y.) broke a scoreless tie four minutes into the second half, and senior Todd Fowler (Clifton Park, N.Y.) made six saves and picked up a shutout as UMass defeated Duquesne 2-0 on Friday night at Rooney Field in Pittsburgh.

Baron became the first Atlantic 10 opponent to score at Rooney Field this season when he beat Duquesne goalkeeper Terry McNelis. McNelis made four saves in defeat for the Dukes (11-5-2, 8-2 Atlantic 10). Senior Adam Black (San Jose, Calif.) added an insurance goal in the 80th minute. Black, who has 16 goals on the year, one behind the UMass single-season record set by Randy Jacobs in 1992, has now scored at least one goal in the last eight games.

UMass (12-5, 8-2 Atlantic 10) moves into a second place tie with Duquesne in the Atlantic 10 standings. The Minutemen improve to a perfect 5-0 in the series between the two teams. UMass will conclude its regular season this Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., when they travel to St. Bonaventure. The Minutemen will begin play in the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Friday night, November 5, at either 6:0 p.m. or 8:30 p.m., at Baujan Field in Dayton, Ohio.
