Chantell Alford joined the University of Massachusetts women's basketball staff as the Director of Player Development in June of 2024. Alford joined the Massachusetts staff after spending a year as an assistant coach at Livingstone College following a seven-year professional career abroad.
 
"Another full-circle moment for me as we welcome Chantell Alford to our staff," said head coach Mike Leflar. "I recruited and coached Chantell at Boston University and am excited to welcome her to our staff. Chantell was a terrific player in college and had a great professional experience as well. Chantell is humble, hard-working and will be a real asset to our players on and off the court."

At Livingstone, Alford served as an assistant coach for the 2023-24 season and was responsible organizing team travel and scouting in addition to her on-court duties.

During her collegiate career at Boston University, Alford became the first player in America East history to be named the conference's Player of the Year three times and earned the Rookie of the Year honor during the 2009-10 season. The four-time first-team all-league selection finished her career with the Terriers with 1,802 career points in addition to shooting 40-percent from 3-point range.

Alford began her professional career in Belarus, where she helped her squad to a league championship while earning a Finals MVP. She played in Ireland from 2015 to 2020, claiming two Cup Finals, two league championships, and one Finals MVP.

The New Haven, Conn. native graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from BU in 2013 and earned her Master's in Business and Entrepreneurship from the Dublin Institute of Technology in 2018.
