Jake Hayden was promoted to Director of Basketball Operations on head coach Frank Martin's staff in July of 2023. Hayden spent the 2022-23 season under Martin as an administrative and graduate assistant following four years as a student manager.
“The Hayden name is one that is popular among the athletic department at UMass,” said Martin. “From the first day on campus, I realized that Jake Hayden, who used to be the head manager before I got here, had the potential to become a phenomenal employee. After serving one year as an administrative assistant, we’ve promoted him to Director of Basketball Operations. He bleeds UMass through and through, as does his family, and he’s going to be a tremendous asset to the working environment in our office.”
Hayden is currently pursuing his master’s degree in business analytics at the Isenberg School of Management and received his undergraduate degree from the McCormack Sport Management program in 2022. The Worcester, Mass. native went to high school at Saint John's in Shrewsbury.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that Coach Martin has given me, especially growing up in a UMass basketball family,” said Hayden. “I look forward to continuing my work here at my alma mater and adding value here at UMass basketball.”
