ON GAFFNEY: Joins team as a walk-on guard for the 2009-10 season. Spent two years at Division III Wheaton College before transferring to UMass. Brother of former UMass star Tony Gaffney.

AS A JUNIOR IN 2008-09:
• Will sit out the season as a transfer from Division III Wheaton College. Will have two years of eligibility remaining. AS A SOPHOMORE AND FRESHMAN AT WHEATON COLLEGE (2007-09): Played in 15 games, starting 10 as a freshman in 2007-08. Averaged 5.4 points, 3.7 assists and 3.0 rebounds with the Lyons.

BEFORE COLLEGE: Played two years as Northfield Mount Hermon. Arrived at NMH from Somerset High School in Somerset, MA, where he started at the point for 53 wins (the most in school history), two Conference Championships reaching the Fleet Center in [apos]03 with his brother, University of Massachusetts forward and former Hogger, Tony Gaffney [apos]04. Bud averaged more than 16 points and eight assists in [apos]04-[apos]05 and was named to the Fall River Herald Starting Five. PERSONAL: Brian Gaffney ... Son of Tony Sr. and Jen Gaffney ... Brother Tony played at UMass from 2006-09 and was named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year in 2009 ... Tony was final cut of Los Angeles Lakers this past season and is currently playing pro basketball in Israel.
