In his role, O’Brien is responsible for arranging and reconciling all team travel, serves as the team’s liaison to athletic department offices and is responsible for coordinating all program logistics.

O’Brien arrived at UMass following an operations internship with the Los Angeles Rams, during which O’Brien assisted the team throughout the 2018 regular season and into the playoffs as the squad reached Super Bowl LIII.

During the team’s Super Bowl trip O’Brien was responsible for the team’s friends and family hotel, while simultaneously assisting the team with logistics while preparing for the game. He also conducted long-term travel and lodging research, facilitated travel and hotel accommodations and assisted facility administration, including security, maintenance and team logistics.

Prior to his tenure with the Rams, O’Brien worked for his alma mater, Syracuse, as a team equipment assistant from Aug., 2017 through July, 2018.

At Syracuse, O’Brien was the direct liaison to the team’s director of football operations for matters regarding travel and practice operations and supervised equipment travel and game day set-up. Additionally, O’Brien oversaw equipment needs for recruiting visits and created multimedia content for recruiting, managed inventory for football equipment and implemented new hiring practices and evaluation measures for student managers.

O’Brien’s tenure with Los Angeles was his second work opportunity with the NFL as he was a football operations intern for the Cleveland Browns from July – Aug., 2017. With the Browns, he managed hotel and office inventory, including coach accommodations, and coordinated daily travel for players and guest coaches. He also facilitated aspects of training camp practice operations and handled game-day print and tablet play imagery for the coaching staff.

A 2017 Syracuse graduate, O’Brien earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management from the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. He served as a student manager for the Syracuse football team throughout his four years at Syracuse.
