Tom Keane is entering his first year on staff with the University of Massachusetts. Keane will be assisting with the Minutemen special teams unit.
He is a 2007 graduate of Washington & Jefferson College where he played four seasons at Wide Receiver for the Division III Presidents. During his career, the Presidents amassed a record of 40-7 including two conference titles and three NCAA Playoff appearances.
Prior to his arrival at UMass, Keane spent the 2017 season at Division II West Virginia Wesleyan College. There Keane worked with the running backs, tight ends, inside wide receivers and special teams.
In 2016, Keane spent a season at Florida Atlantic in a quality control position working with the tight ends and special teams. Under his guidance, Keane saw two players receive C-USA All-Freshman Team awards (Harrison Bryant, tight end and Kerrith Whyte, kick return).
Keane spent the 2015 season with Colgate, working with the running backs. The Raiders finished the season with a 9-5 record, a Patriot League conference championship and an FCS quarterfinal appearance. Keane guided a pair of running backs to second team all-conference awards (Demetrius Russell and James Holland). The season also marked the first time in the 125 year school history that four career 1,000-yard rushers shared the same backfield.
In 2014, Keane worked with the wide receivers at Countryside High School in Clearwater, Florida. Keane was instrumental in helping the Cougars set numerous passing records.
Keane's grandfather was a letterwinner for Ohio State University and West Virginia before becoming a 1948 draft pick of the LA Rams. After his playing days, Keane's grandfather spent more than 20 years coaching in the NFL, spending the majority of the time with the Miami Dolphins, winning two Super Bowls including the 1972 team which finished 17-0.
Tom’s great uncle, Jim Keane, also played in the NFL and still holds the Chicago Bears' record for catches in a single game.
