Thomas Gasbarro

Thomas Gasbarro joined the Minutemen football staff in early 2026 as a special teams graduate assistant.
In 2025, Gasbarro served as the special teams quality control at Michigan State. There, he worked with all four units of special teams, created install meetings for all units for the special team coordinators, ran all scout meetings and oversaw in-game substitutions. He also drew all scout cards and game plans, operated all special teams scout teams during practice, met with athletes individually and assisted with weekly game planning and individual drills during practice.
Gasbarro previously spent time in Amherst as a defensive intern in January to March 2025. In his brief stop with UMass, he aided the defensive coordinator and cornerback coaches with daily activities, helped with install meeting for the cornerbacks, met with athletes, created all signals and signaled to the defense during run-throughs, evaluated high school and transfer defensive back prospects, and assisted the cornerbacks coach in the recruiting process.
Gasbarro was also a head sports performance intern with the Massachusetts football program in the summer of 2024 where he was responsible for weight room and field work set up and break down, corrected movements, oversaw all intern activities on a day-to-day basis, implemented modified training programs for injured athletes during practice, participated in weekly discussions, reported on research articles related to strength and conditioning and leadership and played a role in defensive meetings and run-throughs.
Prior to his time with the Minutemen, Gasbarro was a defensive student assistant with the Western New England University (DIII) football program during the 2023 season. He helped lead individual drills with outside linebackers as well as unit tackling drills, was responsible for in-game communication to the defensive coordinator regarding opponent’s personnel, managed the outside linebackers during games. Gasbarro also assisted with campus tours on recruiting visits.
A native of Franklin, Massachusetts, Gasbarro played safety and outside linebacker for the Western New England Golden Bears for four seasons (2020-24). He was the 2024 Team One Captain, a 2023 position captain, and was a member of both the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Society and the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. Gasbarro was also named to the All-CCC Academic Team four times and was a four-time member of the leadership council.
Gasbarro graduated from Western New England with a bachelor’s degree in sport management in 2024.
