Joe Maurer joins the Minutemen football staff in January 2025 as a defensive graduate assistant.

In the spring of 2024, Maurer served as the defensive backs coach at Division II American International College (AIC). There, he helped set up recruitment and run visits, broke down film and ran meetings with players.

Prior to AIC, Maurer did a practicum for a semester with Division III Springfield College football. He assisted with social media, created practice schedules and organized and broke down film for coaches. Maurer also spent four years as a players’ assistant coach for the BONE (Best of New England) football camp.

Maurer was a three-year starter at safety and a two-year starter as a returner at Springfield College. He was the 2024 team captain and the Conference Special Teams Player of the Year. Maurer was a four-time All-Conference selection, a two-time D3Football.com All-Region Team member and a two-time All-ECAC Team honoree.

Maurer, a Wilbraham, Massachusetts, native, earned his bachelor’s in sport management in 2024 from Springfield College.
