Brian White enters his first season as offensive line coach after joining the UMass staff as an offensive analyst prior to the 2025 season and moving into the offensive line assistant coach role following the season.
Before arriving in Amherst, White spent two seasons as offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Delaware State.
At Delaware State, White helped engineer one of the program's top rushing attacks in recent history, as running back Jaden Sutton became the Hornets' first 1,000-yard rusher since 2006 in 2024. Off the field, White coordinated the team's academic monitoring and study hall program, contributing to improved team GPA and Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores.
Before Delaware State, White spent five seasons at Hampton, where he served as offensive coordinator, offensive line coach, recruiting coordinator and offensive associate head coach. He helped guide the program through conference transitions from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference to the Big South in 2018 and into the Colonial Athletic Association in 2022.
White's offenses consistently ranked among the conference's best. In 2021, Hampton led the Big South in total offense. Running back Shai McKenzie became the program's first 1,000-yard rusher since 2012 in 2019, while the Pirates set single-season school records for completions, touchdown passes, receiving touchdowns and receptions. In 2018, Hampton averaged nearly 35 points and more than 418 yards per game, recording three 50-point performances.
Prior to Hampton, White spent seven seasons at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, including his final six as offensive coordinator. During his tenure, the offense set more than 50 school records, produced back-to-back eight-win seasons in 2015 and 2016 and earned the program's first NCAA Division III playoff appearance in 2016. He also coached an offensive line that produced multiple all-conference, all-region and Academic All-America selections.
White joined the Rose-Hulman staff after coaching stints at Cincinnati, Notre Dame and Maryland. At Cincinnati, he helped the Bearcats lead the Big East in several offensive categories while producing the school's first 1,000-yard rusher since 2004. At Notre Dame, he was part of an offensive staff that ranked eighth nationally in total offense and coached the 2009 Biletnikoff Award winner.
At Maryland, White worked with the special teams and tight ends during the Terrapins' 2009 Humanitarian Bowl victory over Nevada, when the team set a bowl record with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. He also was part of Maryland staffs that earned bowl victories in the 2006 Champs Sports Bowl and 2007 Emerald Bowl.
White began his coaching career at Hargrave Military Academy, where he spent two seasons as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. During his tenure, he coached future NFL offensive linemen Branden Albert and Jared Gaither.
A native of Oakland, New Jersey, White earned a bachelor's degree in history from Juniata College in 2004 and a master's degree in special education from Maryland in 2008.
