AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is assisting with the Coolidge Tower Holiday Toy Drive to benefit children from the Amherst Survival Center. They are looking to collect at least 400 unwrapped toys prior to the UMass hockey game against Vermont on Tuesday, Nov. 25. Bins will be located outside the Mullins Center prior to the 7:00 p.m. game.
The toys will be distributed to children on Dec. 10, 2003, in the lobby of the Coolidge residence hall. There, the children will get a chance to meet some of the people who helped to bring a little joy to the holiday season. There are close to 400 children, aged 2 to 14, who benefit from the services provided by the Amherst Survival Center.
They have been collecting toys from student-athletes and the University community since Oct. 15.
