The softball team and the men's lacrosse team are aiming to secure spots in each sport's respective promised land this weekend. The softball team opens NCAA play on Thursday against Southern Illinois at 2:30 p.m.. The Minutewomen are competing in the Tuscaloosa, Ala., regional. The winner of each of eight regionals will advance to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla., on May 22-26. Meanwhile, the lacrosse team battles Maryland on Saturday for a trip to the NCAA semifinals. The 13-2 and fifth-ranked Minutemen are in the NCAA quarterfinals for the second straight year and meet the third-ranked Terrapins at 12:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. Fans not able to make the trip can catch the action on NESN, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Not to be outdone, the UMass baseball team, the champs of the A-10 East Division, look to make some noise in the Atlantic 10 Conference baseball tournament, held in Norwich, Conn. UMass will play on Friday against either George Washington or Rhode Island. Again, fans can follow all of the action on the GameTracker on the UMass athletics home web page.
