Amherst, Mass. -- For the second time in three years, the University of Massachusetts men's basketball radio broadcast team of Bob Behler and UMass Athletic Hall of Famer Jack Leaman has earned the Associated Press Broadcast Award for sports play-by-play in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The duo, who recently completed their fourth season together and first on flagship station WRNX in Holyoke, Mass., also earned the organization's 2001 honor. Behler just ended his fourth season as the play-by-play "Voice of the Minutemen," and host of the weekly Mark Whipple and Steve Lappas shows, while Leaman has served as the color analyst on UMass' men's basketball broadcast team the past nine seasons.

This year's award will be presented to Behler, Leaman and studio producer Adam Frenier, a student at UMass, as part of the 2003 Associated Press/Radio Television News Directors Association Regional Conference in Newton, Mass.
