AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts has named Tamra Geryk as its new assistant athletic director for marketing, it was announced today by interim athletic director Thorr Bjorn. Geryk will begin her duties with UMass in mid-January.

"We couldn't be more excited that Tamra will be joining the UMass Athletics family," said Bjorn."Her prior experiences as well as her passion for UMass is going to make her a tremendous asset to our program. The fact that Tamra is a former UMass student-athlete is a real bonus. Her enthusiasm and desire to help make UMass successful on all fronts should be contagious for both our fans, staff and students."

For the last two years, Geryk has served as tournament coordinator for IMG / Chris Evert Charities, Inc. She generated revenue for celebrity charity events through corporate sponsorship sales, while designing and directing marketing and promotional campaigns. She also managed event operations and volunteers, created advertising schedules and assisted in venue design. Geryk is a 2001 graduate of UMass with a bachelor's degree in sport management. She was a two-year letterwinner for the Minutewoman field hockey team in 1999 and 2000, helping UMass to a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference titles and NCAA Tournament appearances.

"It is great to be back with UMass Athletics," said Geryk. "I am very excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the organization's future success. There are some amazing people in the department, and I am honored to be a part of this team."
