Sports Illustrated Hoops Preview: Atlantic 10

Sports Illustrated writer Dan Greene has a preview of the upcoming Atlantic 10 men's basketball season. He also mentions a collaboration on a statistical projection system developed  between economist Dan Hanner and  writer Luke Winn that can predict the leading scorer and rebounder for any team in the country.

They pick UMass to finish tied for third (with GW) and an 11-7 league mark. VCU and Dayton are 1-2, with Richmond and Rhode Island tied for fifth at 10-8, and La Salle and St. Bonaventure tied for seventh at 9-9.

Their outlook on UMass in 68 words (or less) is as follows...
Shooting guard Derrick Gordon, who became D-I's first openly gay men's player when he came out in April, will likely take on a bigger role in the Minutemen's uptempo attack, which lost relentless star Chaz Williams. And keep your eyes on the frontcourt, where senior Cady LaLanne provides strong rebounding and shot-blocking and athletic classmate Maxie Esho should take kindly to his first starting role.
