UMass' 17 wins this year were the fourth most of any team during 2011 in the entire country. Only Northwestern (21), Maryland (21), Albany (18) had more. Loyola tied UMass with 17. UMass' three losses came to the NCAA National Champion (Northwestern) and to a pair of Elite Eight teams (Albany, Loyola).
UMass finished the year ranked in the top 10 of every team statistic: Points (7th), Scoring Offense (5th), Scoring Defense (10th), Scoring Margin (4th), Win Percentage (4th), Caused Turnovers (8th), Draw Controls (7th), and Ground Balls (9th).
