UMass Football's Phillipson Tabbed MAC Scholar Athlete Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts football junior Edward Phillipson has been selected as the male MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and having posted an outstanding week athletically the week prior.
Phillipson averaged 57.3 yards per punt on three punts to help seal UMass' 37-21 win at Big Ten foe Rutgers on September 3. Not called on to punt until the he 1:28 mark of the third quarter as the Minutemen rattled off 30 straight points, Phillipson had a long 67 yards, placed two inside the 20 and had no touchbacks. His punt with 11 minutes left in the fourth quarter was downed at the one-yard line.
