Four Earn UMass Student-Athlete Of The Week Honors

Hrabal and Ölvestad of hockey, Bawduniak of men’s swim and dive, and Gaskins of men’s track and field receive the first weekly honor of 2026.
AMHERST, Mass. – Four student-athletes have been named UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by UMassFive College Credit Union. Michael Hrabal and Lucas Ölvestad of hockey, Hudson Bawduniak of men's swimming and diving and Godot Gaskins of men's track and field will all be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon on Wednesday, January 28, at noon in the Berkshire Room of the Berkshire Dining Commons.
Speakers at this week's luncheon will be director of track and field David Jackson and football head coach Joe Harasymiak. Cost to attend is $17 (15.30 for UMass Alumni).
Hrabal stopped all 64 shots he faced, posting two shutouts in a weekend sweep of Vermont for a 1.000 save percentage and a 0.00 goals against average. He made 42 saves in Friday's 4-0 win, following it up with 22 saves in a 1-0 victory on Saturday. Hrabal was named the No. 1 star on Friday and the No. 2 star on Saturday.
Ölvestad led UMass in scoring in a weekend sweep on the road at Vermont with three points on two goals and an assist, extending his goal scoring streak to three straight games. He was +3 with 3 blocks and helped lead a defensive unit that posted two shutouts against the Catamounts. Ölvestad registered a goal and an assist in Friday's 4-0 win and scored the lone goal in Saturday's 1-0 victory.
With the Minutemen winning, 189-110, over Fairfield, Bawduniak secured two individual wins. Bawduniak swam into first with a time of 54.38 in the 100 breaststroke, which marked the top all-time program record, a pool record and a new freshman record. In the 100 butterfly, he finished first with a time 49.32. During the relay events, he aided the 200 medley relay team to a first-place finish with atom of 1:31.21. He also took fifth in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:14.63. For the week, he averaged 20.5 points per game and shot 17-for-28 (.607) from the field.
Gaskins claimed gold in the men's 200m dash, crossing the finish line in 21.46 at the Scarlet and White Meet in Boston. The Marblehead, Mass. native's time ranks second in the MAC and second in program history.
