Award given to those who embody Boland’s integrity, toughness and character.
AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts football program has named linebacker Tyler Martin and offensive lineman Ryan Mosesso as the 2025 Michael Boland Inspirational Award recipients.
The award is presented annually to one defensive and one offensive player who reflect Boland's characteristics, including his hard-working attitude, determination, integrity and commitment to UMass football.
Boland was a four-year letterwinner for Massachusetts (2013, 2015-17) and a stalwart on the offensive line at right guard. He appeared in 43 career games and made 36 starts, with 32 of those as the team's right guard. He passed away suddenly at home in Maryland on February 4, 2017, while preparing for the NFL Draft.
Martin, a redshirt junior from Acton, Massachusetts, competed in 12 games in the 2024 season and posted 27 tackles, including two tackles for loss. He has appeared in 21 games over the last two seasons.
Mosesso, a redshirt senior from Marshfield, Massachusetts, appeared in 11 games on the offensive line last season and he was recently named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 ahead of the 2025 season.
Martin, Mosesso and the Minutemen open the season at 3:30 p.m. on August 30 at McGuirk Alumni Stadium against Temple. Tickets are available now: UMassAthletics.com/tickets.
