Minutemen Drop Regular Season Finale To Loyola Chicago, 74-51

AMHERST, MASS. -- Massachusetts basketball (12-19, 7-11 A-10) dropped its final conference matchup of the season to Loyola Chicago (21-10, 12-6) on Saturday at the Mullins Center. Â

The Minutemen were led by Daniel Hankins-Sanford who finished with 22 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. The junior recorded his fourth consecutive double-double, reaching the mark in the first half alone.Â

Jaylen Curry capped the regular season with 11 points and two assists in 37 minutes of action.Â

The Ramblers were led by Jayden Dawson scoring 17 points in 29 minutes of play.Â

- Dawson took the scoring for the Ramblers upon himself giving Loyola a 24-14 lead off a solo 13-0 run over four minutes.Â
- A three-point play by Hankins-Sanford put the Minutemen within eight with 3:43 on the clock.Â
- Back-to-back dunks from Loyola keyed a 7-2 run to close out the half with Loyola taking a 34-21 lead into halftime.Â
- Out of the locker room, Rubin's layup extended the Ramblers lead with 19:39 on the clock.Â
- In an attempt to close the deficit, Hankins-Sanford's three-point play made the score 42-24.Â
- The two teams traded baskets before Massachusetts generated a 7-0 run over two minutes. Â
- With 2:30 left in the game, Jaylen Curry drained the first three pointer for the Minutemen.Â
- A layup by Daniil Glazkov solidified the Ramblers win at 74-51.Â
