Massachusetts Falls 73-59 to St. Bonaventure

AMHERST, MASS. -- Massachusetts basketball (11-15, 6-7 A-10) fell in a 73-59 game to St. Bonaventure (18-9, 6-8) at the Mullins Center on Saturday afternoon.Â

Tarique Foster led the Minutemen setting multiple career highs on the afternoon. The sophomore recorded 14 points going 4-for-5 from the free throw line, while tacking on three steals.Â

Rahsool Diggins scored 13 points, marking his 19th game this season in double digits.Â

Daniel Rivera had an all-around performance scoring 11 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out three assists. The San Juan native also contributed a steal and a block.Â

The Bonnies were led by Chance Moore who tallied a double-double, scoring a game-high 15 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.Â

- Marqui Worthy opened the scoring for the Minutemen with from the free throw line keying an early 5-0 run highlighted by a Tarique Foster three-pointer over less than a minute.Â
- Lajae Jones got the Bonnies on the board with a jumper in the paint with 18:37 on the clock.Â
- A Daniel Hankins-Sanford layup made it an 8-4 lead in favor of the Minutemen.Â
- Back-to-back buckets by Bonaventure's Noel Brown put the Bonnies in front, 11-8, with 14:28 left in the half.Â
- The two teams exchanged baskets with a layup by Malek Abdelgowad to tie the game.Â
- UMass took a small lead off a dunk by Rivera but was answered by a shot from the arc by St. Bonaventure's Jonah Hinton to retake the lead.Â
- The Bonnies momentum continued pulling away, 29-20 with over four minutes until the half.Â
- Diggins hit a basket from downtown to generate a 6-0 run pulling the Minutemen within three.Â
- Bonaventure answered with a 10-0 run to take a 39-26 lead into halftime.Â
- Out of the locker room, Worthy's jumper in the paint at 18:24 made the score 39-28.Â
- The teams went back and forth with Bonaventure extending their lead off a handful of layups. Â
- Daniel Rivera's layup started a 9-1 run for the Minutemen highlighted by baskets from the charity stripe with 3:04 left in the game. Â
- Diggins put UMass within ten with two free throws followed by a three-pointer by Foster.Â
- Bonaventure took advantage of their time at the line to close out the game for a final score of 73-59.Â
