McGowan Tabbed UMass Student-Athlete Of The Week

Fiona McGowan scored six goals and added four assists in a pair of games for women’s lacrosse last week.

AMHERST, Mass. – Women's lacrosse graduate student Fiona McGowan was named the UMassFive Student-Athlete of the Week as announced on Tuesday. McGowan will be recognized on Wednesday afternoon during the UMass Sports Luncheon at the Berkshire Dining Commons.

McGowan finished last week with six goals and four assists as the women's lacrosse team split a pair of games to wrap up their three-game road trip. McGowan finished with hat tricks in both contests and began the week with three goals at Dartmouth on Tuesday. The attacker finished with four assists in the first half of a 20-8 win at George Mason in the A-10 opener on Saturday, tying Jackie Lyons for seventh most career assists at UMass with 83. McGowan added three goals in the second half to complete the hat trick and finished the day by putting all four of her shots on target.

Women's lacrosse returns to action on Saturday with the Atlantic 10 home opener on Garber Field against Saint Joseph's at 1 p.m.
