Tim Silvernail Joins Massachusetts Football Staff

Silvernail named Assistant Athletic Director for Football Administration
AMHERST, Mass. – Head Coach Don Brown and the University of Massachusetts football program announced the addition of Tim Silvernail to the staff with Silvernail returning to Amherst as the Assistant Athletic Director for Football Administration.
Silvernail spent last year as a Senior Account Executive at Opendorse. Prior to Opendorse, he worked as the Director of Recruiting for the Rutgers football program for three years, which marked his second stint at Rutgers after previously working with the Scarlet Knights in 2015.
In 2019, Silvernail served as the Director of Recruiting Operations at Buffalo, leading all recruiting events on game days and on visits. He also led advance travel to all away sites to ensure hotels, meals and meeting rooms were set. The Bulls earned a victory in the Bahamas Bowl that season, the first bowl win in program history. The class signed in the next signing period went on to help the team win the 2020 Camellia Bowl.
As the team's Director of Player Personnel, starting in August of 2016, Silvernail spent three seasons at his alma mater, Massachusetts. He oversaw a multitude of operational efforts for the program, including coordinating the annual UMass Pro Day and serving as the team's NFL liaison. He was also responsible for maintaining open communication with the Massachusetts compliance office, especially with relation to scholarship reporting, official visits and countable hours. He planned and led all official and unofficial visits, managed all recruiting services relationships and oversaw the day-to-day administrative operations for the program.
Before returning to Amherst, Silvernail aided the Eastern Michigan football program make its first bowl game appearance in three decades with his efforts as a recruiting graduate assistant from June 2015 through July 2016. He helped with film evaluation and information, and instituted recruiting initiatives on the prospective student-athletes who eventually guided EMU to its appearance in the 2016 Bahamas Bowl.
Additionally, Silvernail was a key member in Eastern Michigan's compliance efforts as he planned official and unofficial visits with academics, compliance and university faculty, and cooperated with athletic department staff to ensure compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations.
Following graduation and the completion of his post-graduate internship with the program, Silvernail joined the Rutgers football staff as the team's football operations intern. In his first role with the Scarlet Knights, he researched proposed facility upgrades, assisted in coordination of future road trips and monitored compliance in distribution of Pell Grants. He also worked as a marketing intern for two summers during the Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp.
Silvernail received his bachelor's degree in sport management from the University of Massachusetts in December of 2014.
