Minutemen Fall 80-87 to Temple in Game 1 At Mohegan Sun

AMHERST, MASS. -- Massachusetts (1-4) dropped a competitive 87-80 game to Temple (4-2) on Saturday night at Mohegan Sun.
The Minutemen orchestrated a 15-2 scoring run late in the first half to bring the game within one possession but could not close the gap in the second half. Massachusetts held a strong presence down low, scoring 30 points in the paint while swatting four shots.
Sophomore Jaylen Curry led the Minutemen with 17 points to go along with three rebounds and a pair of assists. Curry has now scored in double figures in four consecutive games.
Shahid Muhammad scored a season-high 12 points, shooting 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. The performance marks the first double-digit scoring total for Muhammad.
Daniel Hankins-Sanford recorded his second double-double of the year, scoring 15 points while snagging a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Owls were led by Jamal Mashburn Jr., who scored a game-high 26 points on the night.
