Breen Tabbed 2023 ECAC Player Of The Year

Breen garners ECAC major award and a spot on the All-ECAC First Team.

DANBURY, Conn. – University of Massachusetts women's basketball graduate student forward was tabbed a 2023 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Year, announced by the league on Tuesday. Breen also earned a spot on the All-ECAC First Team for the second consecutive year.
 
Breen averaged 17.3 points per game in 2022-23, totaling 589 points, while averaging 10.1 rebounds per game (345 total). The graduate student finished third in the Atlantic 10 in scoring with her points per game average, and first with her rebounds per game average, while sitting 20th in the nation. Breen recorded 20 double-doubles on the season, a career-high in a single season, placing ninth in the country and moving her career total to 60. She also registered her first career triple-double against St. Bonaventure (12/31), becoming only the second Minutewomen to do so. In defensive rebounds per game, Breen ranked 20th in the nation (7.4; 250 total), and 10th in total rebounds (345).
 
Breen was named the 2023 A-10 Player of the Year, earning the feat in back-to-back seasons, while also being selected as a 2023 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Finalist for the first time in her career. She was named to the A-10 All-Conference First Team, as well as the FIU Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team this season. Prior to the start of the year, Breen landed on the 2023 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's Watch List and the 2022-23 Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 Watch Lists.
 
The ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) is an eighty-two-year-old organization with well over 200 member schools across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II and III. The ECAC exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics and provides great value for universities and colleges by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the Northeast. The ECAC's esports platform is growing and now totals more than sixty colleges and universities and is expanding the geographic footprint for the conference nationally. The ECAC is also sponsoring competitions and leagues involving other varsity and club sports that do not fall under the umbrella of the NCAA.
