Massachusetts Football Adds Two More Transfers

JB Brown and Jerry Roberts Jr. Will be joining the Minutemen
AMHERST, Mass. – Head coach Don Brown and the University of Massachusetts football staff have added JB Brown and Jerry Roberts Jr. to its incoming class of transfer student-athletes, bringing the total to 15.
Among the 15 transfers, seven are on the offensive side of the ball while eight are on the defensive side.
Previously, Brown announced the signing of six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on the first day of the December Early Signing Period (Dec. 21), and then followed with the announcement of 13 incoming transfer student-athletes on Feb. 1.

- At Arizona, started all 12 games at linebacker in 2022 and ranked second on the team with 78 total tackles
- Ranked fourth on the team with 34 solo tackles and first on the team with 44 assisted tackles
- Posted 2.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble
- Appeared in nine games in 2021 (six starts)
- Totaled 32 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack
- Logged a career-high 10 tackles and 1.5 TFL against Utah
- In 20 games with the Wildcats, made 112 total tackles including 6.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks
- Before joining Arizona, played 20 games at Bowling Green from 2018-20
- Started all five games for the Falcons in 2020
- Was third on the team with 32 tackles, adding one tackle for loss
- Attended Cathedral Prep and earned All-State and District 10 All-Star honors following his junior and senior seasons
- As a senior, made 90 tackles (11 for loss) and added two interceptions
- As a junior, posted 110 tackles (13 for loss) with another two interceptions
- Scored three defensive touchdowns
- Helped lead 2016 team to 14-0 record and PIAA Class 4A state championship and he had a team-high 12 tackles (3.5 for loss) in the title game
- The son of Jerry Roberts and Tameki Tarver
- Has two brothers, Jyree and Tarion and one sister, Tais
- His younger brother, Jyree signed with the Minutemen during the early signing period (December 2022)
- Cousins with Pro Football Hall of Famer Ty Law

- With Arizona, did not appear in a game during the 2022 season after playing in four games (three starts) in 2021
- Totaled eight total tackles, two tackles for loss, and one quarterback hurry in 2021
- Did not play in the 2020 season
- Appeared in all 12 games in 2019 (six starts) on the defensive line
- Finished the 2019 season with 21 total tackles, five tackles-for-loss and three sacks
- Opened the season with three tackles and a quarterback hurry at Hawai'i (Aug. 24) and had two tackles and a sack at USC (Oct. 19)
- Played in all 12 games in 2018 (eight starts), including each of the final six games
- Shared team-best honors with 3.5 sacks
- Third among UA defensive linemen with 30 total tackles, while ranking third on team with 7.5 tackles-for-loss
- Registered a pair of sacks and totaled four tackles in win over Colorado (Nov. 2)
- Recorded first sack of season and combined for four tackles while forcing a fumble in win over California (Oct. 6)
- Combined for six tackles as starter in road win at Oregon State (Sept. 22)
- Made first career start and totaled four tackles in win over Southern Utah (Sept. 15)
- Played in four games in 2017 and recorded two tackles as a true freshman
- Graduated in 2017 from Long Beach Poly High School where he was a team co-captain as a junior and senior and was a three-star recruit
- Earned Team MVP honors as a senior and was a First-team All-Conference selection as a junior and senior
- Two-time Cal-Hi Sports All-State and MaxPreps All-American
- Finished his career with the second most tackles in Long Beach Poly history
- Led his team with 95 tackles as a senior and added four sacks, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries
- Finished with 317 tackles for his high school career

- Brother, Jason, played football at Idaho and his brother, Juwuan, played at Southern Oregon
- Brother, Jayon, played at UCLA and was drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans and played the 2022 season with the Las Vegas Raiders
