Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams and Billy Wooden Earn All-New England Honors

AMHERST, Mass. – Kay'Ron Lynch-Adams and Billy Wooden have been selected to the 2023 New England Football Writers Association All-New England team, the organization announced on Sunday (Nov. 26).
All told, 37 conference all-stars representing all 16 Division I football schools in New England, FBS and FCS were named to the 2023 New England Football Writers Association All-New England team. The team honors the best Division I players by position in New England from the 2023 season.
Kay'Ron Lynch-Adams | Rs. Jr. | RB | Warren, Ohio
- Played in all 12 games, totaling 1,157 rushing yards to go along with 12 rushing touchdowns.
- The 1,157 yards marked the highest rushing total in the FBS era of Massachusetts football, passing Ellis Merriweather (1,138 in 2018).
- The 12 touchdowns were also an FBS record at Massachusetts, passing Marquis Young (nine each in 2017 and 2018).
- Lynch-Adams' 1,157 rushing yards ranks 19th in FBS (second among independents), while his 96.4 rushing yards per game ranks 22nd in FBS (second among independents) and his 12 touchdowns rank 22nd in FBS (second among independents).
- Lynch-Adams has also added 20 catches for 118 receiving yards on the season. Lynch-Adams helped the Minutemen to the win at Army, rushing 34 times for a career-high 234 yards (6.9 yards/carry) and adding a career-high three rushing touchdowns.
- Lynch-Adams became the first UMass player to rush for three touchdowns in a game since Bilal Ally had three versus Georgia Southern on Oct. 21, 2017, and the first Minuteman to eclipse the 200-yard mark since Marquis Young had 240 yards on Nov. 27, 2015, at Buffalo.
- Against Toledo (Oct. 7), Lynch-Adams rushed 20 times for 157 yards including a 47-yard touchdown to put UMass ahead 7-0 in the first quarter.
- Against New Mexico State to open the year (Aug. 26), Lynch-Adams totaled two touchdowns, marking his first career multiple-touchdown game.
- He posted 101 yards on 14 carries at Auburn, including a 28-yard run, for his first career 100-yard game. At Eastern Michigan (Sept. 16), Lynch-Adams carried the ball 26 times for 129 yards.
- A 2023 Phil Steele Preseason All-Independent Second Team member, Lynch-Adams joined the Minutemen for the 2021 season after spending two years at Rutgers.
- Last season, Lynch-Adams rushed 84 times for 297 yards and a career-long, 66-yard touchdown.
Billy Wooden | Sr. | DL | Towson, Md.
- Wooden served as a team captain for all 12 games in 2023.
- Wooden ranked fourth on the team with 46 total tackles and ranks third on the team with 24 solo tackles.
- Wooden posted a team-high 11.5 tackles for loss and a team-best 6.5 sacks on the season.
- Wooden also has a pass breakup, seven quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries (tied for fifth in FBS).
- The 6.5 sacks are tied for 62nd in FBS.
- Wooden, a Towson, Maryland, native, played the past five seasons for Massachusetts.
