Massachusetts Pro Day set for Thursday

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts football will host its annual Pro Day at McGuirk Alumni Stadium and the Martin Jacobson Football Performance Center on Thursday. Three alumni – Avien Peah, Bryce Watts, Troy Shallow and – will log official measurements and participate in on-field drills in front of between 15-20 professional scouts.
The event is limited to pro day participants and selected participant family members, team personnel and professional scouts, and is not open to public viewing. There will be no on-sight media availability, but requests for interviews can be made through the communications office.
The event will begin with the Wonderlic Test followed by height, weight, hand, arm, and wingspan measurements. Each participant will have the opportunity to perform the bench press and the broad jump in the Football Performance Center weight room as well. The vertical jump, 40-yard dash, 5-10-5 agility test and three cone, 60-yard shuffle and any position-specific drills will be performed outside.
Avien Peah has been with the Minutemen for six seasons. Peah appeared and started in 43 career games on the defensive line notching his first career sack during the 2020 season. He has recorded 72 career tackles with 24 solo shots, and 10 TFLs. He recorded on pass break up against Coastal Carolina on (9/25).
Watts appeared in 37 career games (37 starts) between the 2017-2021 seasons as a defensive back. He began his career at Virginia Tech, followed by a stint at North Carolina, and finished with the Minutemen. Watts recorded 72 tackles in his career, 11 pass break-ups, and two interceptions. In 2021 he started all 12 games for the Minutemen, recording 4 pass break-ups and notching his interception against UConn (10/9).
A career defensive lineman, Troy Shallow began his career at Merrimack, where he saw 21 games played. He came to UMass in 2021 and transitioned to fullback, where he played and started in eight games. In his career, Shallow recorded 41 total tackles, with 22 solo, and two sacks and five tackles-for-loss.
The 2022 NFL Draft begins on Thurs., April 28 with the first round. Rounds two and three follow on Fri., April 29 ahead of the fourth through seventh rounds on Sat., April 30.
