Massachusetts And Connecticut Announce Football Series Extension

The Minutemen and Huskies have agreed to extend their annual meeting through 2027
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts and University of Connecticut have extended their agreement to play each other through the 2027 season the schools have announced.
"We're pleased to extend our contractual agreement with UConn through 2027," University of Massachusetts Director of Athletics Ryan Bamford said. "Our renewed rivalry on the gridiron has been very positive for our university and is healthy for college football in the New England region."
The teams will meet this Friday night at 7 p.m. at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut. The game that will also be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
Next season, the teams will meet at a neutral site on Nov. 25, with UMass designated as the home team. The Minutemen will play host to the Huskies at McGuirk Alumni Stadium on November 30, 2024, and October 16, 2027. Massachusetts will head back to Rentschler Field for games on November 29, 2025, and October 24, 2026.
Friday night's contest will mark the 76th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Massachusetts leading the series 35-32-2. Last season, the Minutemen posted a 27-13 win over UConn on October 9, 2021, at McGuirk Alumni Stadium. Ellis Merriweather rushed for 171 yards and added two touchdowns to lead UMass to the victory.
