Lebster Tabbed Hockey East Rookie Of The Week

The freshman scored the only goal in UMass’ win over Vermont to close out the regular season.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey freshman forward Reed Lebster has been selected as the Hockey East Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The honor marks the first of Lebster's career and the 11th weekly award given to a member of the Minutemen this season.

Last Thursday in UMass' regular season finale, Lebster scored the game winner and only goal of the game with less than three minutes remaining in regulation to help UMass secure a 1-0 win over Vermont. The victory helped the Minutemen clinch the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Hockey East Tournament and match the second highest wins total in program history at 21 on the year.

Having appeared in all 34 games thus far, the Grand Rapids, Michigan native currently has nine goals to his credit, tied for third-most on the UMass roster, to go along with five assists for 14 points.

The Minutemen will open up the postseason this Friday, March, 13 with game one of the best-of-three Hockey East Quarterfinals against No. 7 seed Northeastern slated for 7:15 p.m. at the Mullins Center.
