UMASS FOOTBALL, BASEBALL ELECT CAPTAINS
July 01, 1992 | Baseball, Football
AMHERST - Bill Durkin, an offensive guard from Stratford, CT, and John Creamer, a defensive tackle from Worcester, MA, have been elected co-captains of Coach Mike Hodges' 1992 University of Massachusetts football team.
Durkin, 6'5; 285, is one of the best athletes on the team. He played tight end, center and offensive tackle before settling in at guard early last year. An internal infection sidelined him for the final nine games of 1991, but he has recovered and has regained all of his strength.
Creamer, 6'2, 250, had 40 tackles in 1991 with five quarterback sacks and six other tackles for losses. He started all 11 games last year and nine games for the 1990 Yankee Conference Championship/NCAA team. UMass opens the 1992 season at Delaware on Sept. 12.
