November 11, 2020 | Men's Basketball
The Minutemen will play on national television on seven occasions in A-10 play
AMHERST, Mass. -- The Atlantic 10 Conference announced the dates and television assignments for the 2020-21 UMass men's basketball season on Wednesday. The Minutemen will host nine league contests at home in the Mullins Center and will be featured nationally on ESPN, NBC Sports Network, or CBS Sports Network in seven of their 18 league matchups.
In addition, UMass Athletics announced that it will not host fans at its home events until further notice. The decision was made following consultation with local public health and university officials and in accordance with the Governor's Executive Order prohibiting large capacity venues from opening to the public.
All games not carried as part of the A-10's national television package will be streamed through the Atlantic 10's partnership with ESPN+. Virtual season ticket offerings will be available for fans at a later date. Stay tuned to UMassAthletics.com and @UMassBasketball on social media for information. Non-conference opponents and game dates will be announced as they are confirmed.
UMass will hit the road for three of its first four league games, beginning on December 9 at La Salle. After its A-10 home opener against George Mason on December 30, the Minutemen will turn the calendar with away tests at Saint Louis (Jan. 2 on NBCSN) and George Washington (Jan. 6).
La Salle's return trip to the Mullins Center on January on NBCSN starts kicks off a stretch of three of four Minuteman games on the national airwaves, which also includes a January 17 road contest at Fordham (NBCSN) and home game against Davidson (January 24 on CBSSN).
Other home matchups for the Minutemen in Atlantic 10 play include Fordham (Feb. 3), Dayton (Feb. 9, ESPN), St. Bonaventure (Feb. 14, NBCSN), Rhode Island (Feb. 27) and Richmond (Mar. 3).
UMass will also play on national television at Rhode Island on February 6.
Additionally, 11 games of the 2020 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship at Barclays Center will be nationally broadcast. NBCSN will carry the second round and the quarterfinals, March 11-12, and CBS Sports Network will air the semifinal games on March 13. CBS Television Network will broadcast the March 14 final at 1:00 pm ET as part of the network's overall NCAA Selection Sunday coverage.
For the sixth straight year, ESPN and the Atlantic 10 will present A-10 Friday Night Showcase, featuring seven Friday primetime conference games. The eight league games begin with Davidson at Rhode Island on Dec. 18, and feature six different Atlantic 10 programs. In total, there will be 14 regular season games across ESPN networks, all of which are conference matchups.
