Barr Earns Rookie Mini-Camp Opportunity With Arizona

May 10, 2019 | Football

Middle linebacker racked up 252 tackles, 19.5 TFLs as a two-year starter at UMass

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts football alumnus Bryton Barr will join former teammates Andy Isabella and Lee Moses at the Arizona Cardinals upcoming rookie mini-camp from Fri., May 10 through Sun., May 12. It marks Barr's second NFL invitation, as he spent May 3-5 at the New York Giants' rookie mini-camp.

In 2019, Barr finished his second year and final year with the program, and his seventh season of college football overall. He served as a team captain and led the squad in tackles with 105 stops, including 9.0 TFLs and 5.0 sacks. He, along with Ross Comis, was named the team's Michael Boland Inspirational Award recipient, given annually to one offensive and one defensive player who reflect Boland's characteristics, including his hard-working attitude, determination, integrity and commitment to UMass football.

Barr transferred to UMass as a graduate student in 2017 following five seasons as a member of the Towson football program. He was granted two additional years of eligibility by the NCAA due to back-to-back-to-back season-ending injuries that kept him off the football field for more than 1,000 days consecutively.

UMass football begins its 2019 season at Rutgers on Fri., Aug. 30. The Minutemen host their first home game of the year the following weekend with a Sat., Sept. 7 contest against Southern Illinois at McGuirk Alumni Stadium. Kickoff times for both contests will be announced at later dates.
