UMass Football Gameday Themes Set For 2019 Season

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts Athletics announced the six primary UMass football home game themes for the 2019 season on Monday.

Fans in search of more information on 2019 UMass football tickets can contact the UMass Athletics Ticket Office at 866-UMASS-TIX, through the UMass Athletics Ticket Central page or by visiting the Mullins Center Box Office (200 Commonwealth Ave., Amherst, MA 01003).

Ticket packages for 2019 Homecoming will be available beginning Wed., July 10. Full descriptions of each theme follow below.

Sat., Sept. 7 • Southern Illinois

Game Theme: Valley Tally
UMass encourages all of the Pioneer Valley to come out to the 2019 Football home opener. It is the first chance to see Walt Bell and company at McGuirk Alumni Stadium. Stadium enhancements including a state-of-the-art videoboard as well as a new sound system, team entrance, end zone hospitality space and more will debut. Be among the first to see McGuirk Alumni Stadium in its new form.

Sat., Sept. 21 • Coastal Carolina

Game Theme: Youth Sports Day
Youth sports teams of all ages are encouraged to come out to McGuirk Alumni Stadium for the day and support the UMass football team. UMass will host youth programming built into pregame and in-game capacities. Pregame activities will include bounce houses, face painting and Sam the Minuteman visits, among other activities, Enjoy a Saturday afternoon outdoors supporting the Pioneer Valley's only Division I football team.

Sat., Sept. 28 • Akron

Game Themes: Hall of Fame Day and Flagship Families Day
Purchase a family pack (minimum of two tickets), with additional tickets purchased at a discounted rate. Those who purchase the Family Pack will be able to participate in a pregame youth clinic, all youth (12 and under) will receive a gift, and more. UMass Athletics will also recognize the newly inducted 2019 Hall of Fame class during the game.

Sat., Oct. 26 • Connecticut

Game Theme: Homecoming
Calling all Alumni back to campus for the 2019 Homecoming weekend, featuring a matchup with local foe UConn. For more information on all homecoming weekend programming, visit the UMass Alumni Association website.

Sat., Nov. 2 • Liberty

Game Themes: Band Day and Hometown Heroes Day
In recognition of Veterans Day, and all local heroes in the Amherst community, Hometown Heroes day will recognize those who serve or have served in the military and emergency services personnel. In addition to recognizing these individuals, the Minutemen Marching Band hosts their annual Band Day. UMass Athletics invites high school bands out to perform with the Minutemen Marching Band at halftime.

Sat., Nov. 23 • BYU

Game Theme: Senior Day
Come out and celebrate the careers of the UMass Football Class of 2019 and all that they have contributed as student-athletes on this campus.

UMass football begins its 2019 season at Rutgers on Fri., Aug. 30. The Minutemen host their first home game of the year the following weekend with a Sat., Sept. 7 contest against Southern Illinois at McGuirk Alumni Stadium. Kickoff for both contests will be announced at later dates.
