UMass football all-American ties for fastest time among wide receivers
INDIANAPOLIS - University of Massachusetts football nine-time all-American Andy Isabella tied for the fastest recorded run in the 40-yard dash among wide receivers at the 2019 NFL Combine on Saturday. After an error by the laser timing system initially reported an erroneous mark for Isabella, a correction reset his 40-yard dash time to 4.31 seconds, tied with Ohio State's Parris Campbell for the top spot.
Isabella's 40-yard dash is tied for the 19th fastest ever run at the NFL Combine, dating back to the earliest recorded times in 1999. His mark put Isabella ahead of a number of noteworthy small-frame pass-catching threats in the NFL currently, including Doug Baldwin (4.48), Brandin Cooks (4.33), Julian Edelman (4.52), Jarvis Landry (4.77) and Willie Snead (4.62)
It highlighted a productive day for Isabella on the field and in the weight room at Lucas Oil Stadium, during which he also produced in the bench press, broad jump, vertical jump, 3-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle.
Isabella was one of only seven wide receivers with a 40-yard dash time under 4.40 seconds and also one of only eight receivers with a sub-7.00 second 3-cone drill time. He was the only competitor at the combine to earn both distinctions.
