- UMass football is tied for second across FBS in total true-freshmen to start a game this season with seven, alongside only Stanford and Texas A&M. Alabama is the lone program with more (9).
- Massachusetts had two rookies make starts on offense and five do so on defense.
- The seven freshmen to make starts this season include Helber Fagundes (OL), Wilson Frederic (DL), Jermaine "OC" Johnson, Jr. (WR), Grant Laws (DL), Josh Wallace (CB), Johnathon Weir (DL), Billy Wooden (DL).
OFFENSE FROM DEFENSE
- Isaiah Rodgers ties for the active lead among all FBS players with three career interceptions returned for touchdowns.
- He is one of only two players in the nation with three interceptions returned for touchdowns currently competing, alongside Louisiana Tech's Amik Robertson.
- There are 21 players with two interceptions returned for touchdowns currently active as well.
- Rodgers is the only active Minutemen with an interception returned for a touchdown.
- In the history of the program, 36 different players have returned at least one interception for a touchdown, including Rodgers.
RUMBLE YOUNG MAN, RUMBLE
- Redshirt junior running back Bilal Ally posted single-game career highs of 25 carries and 159 yards against UConn, while he scored twice. He also accounted for five of the team's seven first downs by rushing and averaged 6.4 yards per touch.
- Ally's 159 yards were the most by a single UMass player since Marquis Young (2015-18) tallied 163 over 21 carries at Old Dominion on Oct. 7, 2016.
- The 159-yard outing by Ally marked his first 100-yard game of the season and the third of his career at UMass.
