Ford Named Candidate For CFPA National Performer Of The Year

Redshirt senior collects third preseason watch list accolade of 2018
CHARLESTON, South Carolina -Ā University of Massachusetts football redshirt senior quarterback Andrew Ford collected his fourt preseason watch list accolade of the year on Thursday when the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) announced its 2018 preseason watch list for the CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy.
Ford ranked among the nation's FBS leaders at quarterback in fewest interceptions (t-9th; four), touchdown-to-interception ratio (5th; +5.5), passing efficiency (18th), yards per pass attempt (21st; 8.28), passing yards per game (24th), completion percentage (26th), completions per game (29th; 20.27) during the 2017 campaign.
The list includes 36 returning performers from the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), including 27 quarterbacks. The 2018 CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal tower with eight-inch crystal football on top. All FBS players are eligible for the award. The award winner will be announced Jan., 9, 2019.
Ford, a two-year starter and letterwinner with Massachusetts, already ranks among the top-5 in program history for completion percentage (2nd; 62.0), passer efficiency rating (2nd; 144.4), passing yards per game (2nd; 254.0), touchdown passes (3rd; 48), pass completions (4th; 445), passing yards (4th; 5,589), pass attempts (5th; 718).
