Mayfield, Ohio, native one of only two wide receivers listed
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts senior Andy Isabella was one of only two wide receivers who earned 2018 FBS Consensus All-America Team status with his inclusion on five specific first or second team listings. In order to be named one of only 27 consensus all-Americans in the country, an individual must be recognized by the American Football Coaches Association, Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America, Sporting News and Walter Camp Football Foundation, and receive majority placement among the respective organizations' first teams.
Isabella was the lone consensus pick from FBS programs in New England, while Isabella and Syracuse place-kicker Andre Szmyt were the only selections in the Northeast. Alabama's Jerry Jeudy joined Isabella as the additional consensus all-America choice at wide receiver.
The 5-foot-10 standout added all-America awards from Pro Football Focus (first team) and Sports Illustrated (second team) for a total of seven laurels as of Thurs., Dec. 13.
Isabella is the nation's FBS leader in receiving yards (1,698) and receiving yards per game (141.5) while he also ranks third in receptions per game (8.5) and tied for fifth in touchdown catches (13). The Mayfield, Ohio, native totaled 102 catches over his 12 starts at wide receiver, with at least four catches in every game. He also reset the team's single-season and career receiving yards (3,526) marks with the final catch of his collegiate career, a 45-yard touchdown at No. 5 Georgia.
