Pipkins Tabbed Atlantic 10 Co-Player Of The Week

Junior guard Luwane Pipkins averaged 24 points over two games to go along with 6.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts junior guard Luwane Pipkins was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week on Monday afternoon after averaging 24 points per game as the Minutemen rounded out the week with a 79-78 comeback win on the road at Providence. The weekly honor marks the third for Pipkins and first this season.
 
In the win over the Friars on Friday, Pipkins (Chicago, Ill.) dropped in 13 of his game-high 26 points in the second half and added all five of his assists as UMass rallied back from down as many as 20 points in the opening half to win for the first time at Providence since 1979. Pipkins opened the week with 22 points at half against Holy Cross to go along with eight assists and four rebounds as he averaged 6.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game over the week while shooting 12-of-15 from the free throw line.
 
On the season, Pipkins is averaging 20.5 points per game to rank second-most in the A-10 while leading the league with 6.4 assists per contest.
 
The Minutemen wrap up a two-game road trip in Philadelphia, Pa. on Wednesday when they face-off against former Atlantic 10 foe Temple at 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
