Senior running back totaled 226 all-purpose yards in team's 62-59 triple overtime win vs. Liberty

LOUISVILLE - University of Massachusetts football senior running back Marquis Young earned selection to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll presented by Texas Roadhouse following his 216 all-purpose yard outing against Liberty, during which Young posted 148 rushing, 47 kick return and 21 receiving yards in the 62-59 triple overtime win.

Young totaled his 148 rushing yards on 23 carries, an average of 4.9 yards per attempt, and scored twice on the ground including the game-tying touchdown with 25 seconds remaining in the game. He also caught three balls and brought back three kickoffs for a total of 29 touches, an average of 7.4 yards gained every time he handled the football.

The win over Liberty marked Young's third game with 200 or more all-purpose yards, including FIU (200) and Charlotte (205).

The Fairport, New York, native scored on a four-yard run with three minutes left in the third and capped a 10-play series with a nine yard scamper with 25 seconds to play that culminated in an goal-line front flip over a defender as Massachusetts erased a 14-point deficit.

The Paul Hornung Award, now in its ninth season, is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission, and football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung. The winner and his family will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award Banquet presented by KentuckyOne Health. This is the Paul Hornung Award's third year as an associate member of the prestigious National College Football Awards Association.

Massachusetts football plays next at Gillette Stadium against BYU at Noon on Sat., Nov. 10. Tickets are available for the game at 866-UMASS-TIX, online via UMass Ticket Central or in-person at the Mullins Center Box Office.
