Isabella Named Finalist For Biletnikoff Award

National recognition given to most outstanding receiver in FBS each season
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - University of Massachusetts football senior wide receiver Andy Isabella earned one of three finalists spots for the 2018 Biletnikoff Award, as announced by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc., on Monday afternoon.
Isabella currently leads the nation in total receptions and catches per game as well as total receiving yards and receiving yards per game. Upon the completion of his senior year at No. 5 Georgia on Sat., Nov. 17, Isabella totaled 102 catches for 1,698 yards and 13 touchdown receptions over the team's 12-game slate. It marked averages of 8.5 catches and 141.5 receiving yards per game.
The 5-foot-10, 190-pound mathematics major from Mayfield, Ohio, leads the country over the next receiver by 11 receptions (Rondale Moore, Purdue, 91) and 323 receiving yards (Antoine Wesley, Texas Tech, 1,375). He is tied for second nationally with his 13 touchdown receptions and is sixth overall with 145.7 all-purpose yards per game.
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding FBS receiver in college football. Any player, regardless of position including but not limited to wide receiver, tight end, slot back and running back, who catches a pass is eligible for the award. The semifinalists, finalists, and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners and other former receivers.
The 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on Dec. 6, 2018, on The Home Depot College Football Awards presented by Gildan to be broadcast 7 - 9 p.m. (EST) on ESPN. College and pro football hall of famer Fred Biletnikoff will announce the 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner on the show.
The 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented the Biletnikoff Award trophy by college and pro football hall of famer Fred Biletnikoff and keynoter & 1993 Lombardi Award and Jim Parker Award winner Aaron Taylor before 550 patrons at the Biletnikoff Award Banquet at the University Center Club at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida, on Sat., Feb. 16, 2019.
Isabella represents Massachusetts football's first national award finalist of the team's FBS era. He is also the program's third-ever player lauded by the Biletnikoff Award's selection committee alongside wide receiver Tajae Sharpe (2014 - watch list; 2015 - semifinalist) and tight end Adam Breneman (2017 - watch list).
