Breneman, Casali Presented With Boland Inspirational Award

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts football head coach Mark Whipple has established the Michael Boland Inspirational Award and presented it to rising seniors Adam Breneman and Steve Casali prior to Thursday's annual spring game.
 
Established in memory of the 2016 senior, Boland passed away in February 2017. The honor will be given to a player or players as the most dedicated in the UMass program.
 
Arriving at UMass prior to the 2016 season as a transfer from Penn State, Breneman finished his first campaign with 70 receptions for 808 yards and eight touchdowns, averaged 67.3 yards per game and 11.5 yards per catch.
 
A three-year letterman for the Minutemen defense, Casali started all 12 games at inside linebacker in 2016 and has 38 career games to his credit. He collected a season-high 15 tackles vs. Tulane and totaled 105 stops on the season.
