AMHERST, Mass. - Alyssa Lawrence led all scorers with 19 points as the University of Massachusetts women's basketball team defeated La Salle University, 80-57 on Saturday afternoon at the Mullins Center in Amherst.

The win was UMass' (11-17, 5-11 A-10) fifth win in a row, all in conference play. La Salle dropped to 5-24 with a 2-14 mark in Atlantic 10 competition.

Lawrence was one of five UMass scorers to pour in 10 or more points. The redshirt-sophomore led the team, followed Cierra Dillard with 17, Rashida Timbilla with 15, Bria Stallworth and Maggie Mulligan each with 11.

UMass dominated the inside game, outscoring the Explorers 44-26 in the paint. They also topped La Salle in bench scoring, 41-14.

Amy Griffin led La Salle in scoring with 15 points, followed by Jasmine Alston with 12. Alston also was effective in the passing game, totaling eight assists for the Explorers.

The Minutewomen carried a 30-22 lead into half time, bolstered by eight points from Lawrence. It wasn't until the second half that UMass was able to break away. Massachusetts scored 50 points in the second half for the second straight game, while La Salle mustered just 35.

This was the final regular season game of Rashida Timbilla's illustrious career at UMass. The senior played in 115 games for Coach Sharon Dawley over four years, starting in 109. The senior is just three rebounds short of 1,000 total for her career. Eclipsing the mark would make her the second player in UMass history to reach 1,000 career rebounds.

Senior Victoria Stewart was also honored before the game. Stewart played in all three games to start the season before being sidelined with an ACL injury, and totaled 31 career games for the Minutewomen.

The game was the last of the regular season for UMass. They next play in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Richmond, Va.
