Mackey Tabs Breneman Weekly Honorable Mention

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts redshirt junior Adam Breneman has been named John Mackey Award Tight End of the Week Honorable Mention, it was announced on Wednesday.
Breneman, a redshirt junior from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, led UMass against Wagner (10/29; 34-10 victory) with 138 yards receiving and a pair of touchdowns among eight total catches (17.3 ypc). It marked his second-consecutive game with two touchdowns as he went for nine catches, 94 yards and a pair of scores at South Carolina (10/22).
On the season, Breneman totals 52 receptions for 622 yards and six touchdowns. He averages 12.0 ypc and 69.1 ypg with a long catch of 58 yards. He's tied for UMass' record for single-season TDs by a tight end.
Breneman leads tight ends and ranks 23rd nationally in total receptions (52) and is No. 2 among tight ends in receptions per game (5.8). With 622 receiving yards, he ranks No. 2 among tight ends and tied for No. 41 in FBS. His receiving yards per game (69.1) rank No. 3 among tight ends and 70th among FBS players.
The 2016 John Mackey Award recipient will be announced on Dec. 7 and then presented live on Dec. 8 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU. Other key dates include the 2016 Mackey Semifinalists on Nov. 14 and the 2016 Mackey Finalists on Nov. 22.
