Women's Hoops Falls 67-50 At George Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. - George Washington used a strong third quarter to get past the UMass women's basketball team 67-50 on Wednesday night at the Smith Center. The Colonials expanded a seven-point halftime lead to 21 points after holding the Minutewomen without a field goal for the first seven minutes of the third quarter.
Rashida Timbilla led UMass (6-12, 0-6 A-10) with a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds. She also added five steals and two assists. Cierra Dillard and Alyx Stiff also reached double-figures with 12 points each.
Hannah Schaible led all players with 18 points, while Caira Washington had 13 points.
The Minutewomen led George Washington (16-3, 6-0 A-10), 19-15, after the first quarter after an inspired defensive effort.
Despite the Colonials picking up a 17--6 second quarter, UMass was still within reach at halftime with just a seven point, 32-25, deficit.
UMass shot 40.7 percent from the floor for the game (11-of-27), but did commit 24 turnovers. Defensively, the Minutewome were able to force 22 turnovers on the Colonials.
