Minutewomen Drop Contest to St. Bonaventure, 66-41

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Despite 11 points from Alyssa Lawrence, the Massachusetts women's basketball team fell to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, 66-41 on Sunday evening at the Reilly Center in St. Bonaventure, N.Y.
The loss drops the Minutewomen to 6-9 on the season and 0-3 in Atlantic 10 play, while St. Bonaventure improves to 14-2 this year and 3-0 in conference matchups. The win was St. Bonaventure's 13th in a row.
Lawrence led the way for the Minutewomen, scoring all 11 points in the second half. Rashida Timbilla and Bria Stallworth also scored in double-figures for the Minutewomen, each coming away with 10 points. Timbilla led all players with nine rebounds.
For the Bonnies, Mariah Ruff set a new season high in scoring with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-4 from 3-point territory. Other double-figure scorers for St. Bonaventure were Miranda Drummond with 18 points and Katie Healy with 12.
UMass kept even with the Bonnies in the fourth quarter, 13-13. Alyx Stiff landed a 3-pointer and was fouled on the shot to set up a 4-point play for the Minutewomen.
Maggie Mulligan made her first appearance after missing a game with an ankle injury. Mulligan played 16 minutes and blocked a game-high two shots in the contest.
The Minutewomen are back in action on Wednesday when they take on the Bilikens of Saint Louis before returning to Amherst to host Richmond on Jan. 16 at 2 p.m.
