AMHERST, Mass. - Hockey freshman Brandon Montour and men's basketball junior Trey Davis have been named the Co-UMass Athletes of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday. The duo will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the Massachusetts Room in the Mullins Center.

The Sports Luncheon, which will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. this week so that attendees can enjoy the UMass women's basketball game against George Mason at 11:45 a.m., will feature Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Angela McMahon as guest speaker. Parking is available for free behind the Mullins Center. A buffet lunch will be served for $14/ person.

In the Minutemen's pair of Hockey East games, Montour logged three assists and was +3 on the weekend as he extended his point-scoring streak to five straight games. The defenseman registered his fifth multi-point game of the season with a pair of helpers in UMass' 5-2 victory over #12/11 UMass Lowell on Saturday, the squad's first over the River Hawks since 2011. Montour's performance, which included an assist on the game-winning goal on the power play, earned him recognition as the No. 3 star of the game.

With his three assists last week, Montour increased his season total to 15 points (2g 13a) in just 13 games. In games played since Dec. 27, he is the only defenseman ranked nationally among the top-35 point scorers (t-20th) and overall on the season ranks tied for fourth in the nation in scoring for freshmen defensemen.

Davis averaged 17 points, 3.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds in leading UMass to wins at Fordham and at home against La Salle. The East Dallas, Texas, native had 26 points, two assists and a steal at Fordham, including four 3-pointers and was perfect on 10 free throws in the final 51 seconds to secure the victory. Davis followed up that performance with an 8-point, 5-rebound, 5-assist (and 0 turnover) effort against La Salle, helping push the Minutemen's winning streak to four games. He has made his last 20 free throws and ranks third in the A-10 with a .868 FT percentage in 10 league games.
