Clark, Dillard Named UMass Student-Athletes Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Following strong weeks on the hardwood, Donte Clark of the men's basketball team and Cierra Dillard of the women's basketball team have been named the UMass/Dinn Bros. Student-Athletes of the Week. The pair will be honored on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at the weekly UMass Sports Luncheon held in the Massachusetts Room of the Mullins Center (Noon).
Clark led the Minutemen to a 99-69 win over Boston University on Wednesday before the squad suffered a tough loss to Ole Miss in Springfield, 74-64, on Saturday. In the two games, Clark averaged 21 points hitting 14-of-28 shots from the floor including a 9-of-16 effort from three-point range. Against the Terriers, he netted 18 points along with five rebounds and two assists. In the Ole Miss game, he scored 24 points, one off his season high, while adding four assists and a steal.
Dillard posted her second 20+ point effort of the season in leading the Minutewomen to an 86-69 win at Bryant on Wednesday in the squad's only contest of the week. The sophomore scored a team-best 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting including a 3-of-4 performance from the arc. Dillard also had a team-high six assists and five steals against the Bulldogs.
Wednesday's guest speakers will be Senior Associate Athletic Director/SWA Darrice Griffin and UMass women's basketball coach Jen MacAulay. The luncheon is held from Noon until 1:15 p.m. Free parking is available behind the Mullins Center.
A full salad-to-dessert buffet is available for just $14 at the weekly luncheon along with a prize raffle and other give-aways.
