Weekly Game Notes - UMass Closes Out Non-Conference Schedule With Penn State |
|
• For the second straight week, the UMass football team looks to bounce back from another tough three-point loss. The Minutemen will head to Penn State on Saturday (4 PM, BTN) looking to keep the momentum they have built on offense rolling. The Nittany Lions will pose the toughest challenge of the non-conference slate for UMass as Penn State enters the game with a 3-0 record. • The UMass Sports Network will feature Voice of the Minutemen Josh Maurer handling play-by-play duties alongside analyst Matt Goldstein, and sideline reporter Cody Chrusciel. The game can be heard live starting at 3:40 AM (ET) on 105.5 FM WEEI (Springfield), 1440 AM WVEI (Worcester) and 1200 AM WXKS (Boston/Manchester/Providence). The broadcast is also available online through www.UMassAthletics.com and on smart phones and tablets through the TuneIn app. • The game will also be televised on the Big Ten Network which is available for fans on most major cable outlets. Additionally, fans can watch online via www.btn2go.com or on mobile devices via the BTN2Go App. • This will be the first-ever meeting between UMass and Penn State, although UMass has played several Big Ten teams in the recent past by facing Michigan (2012) and Wisconsin (2013). • The Minutemen are coming off a heartbreaking 34-31 loss at Vanderbilt last Saturday. UMass led until the final 68 seconds of play and had a chance in the final seconds to score a go-ahead touchdown and a game-tying field goal, but just missed on each attempt. • The game was the second straight outing where UMass posted 30+ points which was its first time in its FBS history to do so. After just scoring seven points in the season opener, UMass has scored 69 points in the last two games. • The next UMass home game will be on Sept. 27 against Bowling Green in the first game back at McGuirk Stadium since the move to the Football Bowl Subdivision. The game is anticipated to sellout as it will also be Homecoming. UMass played its games at Gillette Stadium exclusively during 2012 and 2013 as McGuirk was renovated with the new Football Performance Center and the Martin And Richard Jacobson Press & Skybox Complex. • Complete Game Notes As PDF |
