Esho, Sharpe Split UMass Athlete Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts men's basketball senior Maxie Esho and football junior Tajae Sharpe split the Dinn Bros. UMass Athlete of the Week on Monday. The UMass Sports Luncheon will be hosted on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Football Performance Center from Noon through 1:15 p.m.
Guest speakers include ice hockey head coach John Micheletto and women's basketball assistant coach Chris Wielgus. The program will begin near 12:15 p.m. and parking is free in Lot 11 next to the Football Performance Center. A salad-to-dessert buffet will be served for $14 per person.
Esho averaged 22 points and nine rebounds when he led the Minutemen to victories over Siena, 95-87 and Boston College, 71-62. He provided a career-high 23 points during the win over Eagles, the third consecutive for UMass.
Sharpe set a personal best with 239 receiving yards during the win over Ball State on Wednesday, Nov. 12. His yards total is the most in one game by a wide receiver in NCAA Division I FBS this season. Sharpe accomplished this feat through 13 receptions, the third time this season he equaled the program record for most catches in one game.
