AMHERST, Mass. - Following an undefeated weekend at the University of Maine Invitational, three Minutewomen field hockey student-athletes received praise on Tuesday for the team's strong start. From the Atlantic 10 Conference, sophomore Brooke Sabia earned Co-Player of the Week while Izzie Delario took home Co-Rookie of the Week. Sabia was also named UMass Co-Athlete of the Week, sharing the honor with teammate Sam Carlino.

UMass men's soccer head coach Sam Koch and rowing head coach Jim Dietz will speak at the weekly UMass Sports Luncheon, held in the Mullins Center's Massachusetts Room 12-1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The full salad to dessert buffet is $13 to purchase and parking in the lot West of the Mullins Center is free of charge.

Sabia splits the A-10 player of the week award with Saint Francis' Autumn Pellman. Delario was tabbed the co-rookie along with Kiersten Cepeda of Lock Haven.

Sabia tallied a pair of second-half goals as UMass downed No. 9 nationally ranked Michigan, 3-2 on Saturday, one day after the team defeated the host-Black Bears, 2-1. Sabia's goals turned a one-goal deficit into the eventual final score as the Lafayette Hill, Pa., native earned her first collegiate multi-goal game.

Delario provided the eventually game-winning tally against Maine following a penalty corner. The freshman midfielder and forward redirected a play by senior Hannah Prince into the back of the cage for the second Minutewomen goal of the day and the first of Delario's career.

Carlino backstopped the Minutewomen to the pair of victories with 13 saves against only three goals allowed. The win over Maine marked her 15th as the starting goalkeeper for UMass field hockey while the victory against No. 9 Maine is Carlino's seventh over a top-20 team.

The Minutewomen will complete their first home game of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 5 p.m. against UMass-Lowell. Admission is free to all and the UMass Athletic Department will be giving away t-shirts to the first 25 students to arrive at Garber Field for the contest.
